The attorney general described as “unworthy” the citizen protest held on Sunday, December 1 to demand the freedom of political prisoners and minors detained after the post-election protests.

“They made a fool of themselves, it was a null call,” he said. In his opinion, the opposition, which called the mobilization, uses failed slogans “to try to revolt a people that absolutely rejects them.”

He referred to the murder of José Antonio Torres Blanco, a member of the National Guard. He said that the official was shot dead on July 29 in Maracay, Aragua state. One person is detained and another is wanted. He also exposed the case of Mayauri Silva, a 49-year-old community leader murdered in Turmero (Aragua), who according to Saab was killed in the midst of a hate campaign. “she was besieged and persecuted.”

He also mentioned the assault on the Venceremos community radio station and the PSUV house on July 29 by supposedly opposition militants. “They attacked this radio station with weapons and blunt objects, stole equipment, and caused serious injuries to two people,” he highlighted.

Saab rejected that any non-governmental organization avoids mentioning any of these cases.

The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, began this Monday, December 2, the Assembly of States that are part of the Rome Statute where he stated that his investigation in the Venezuela I case, which the alleged commission reviews of crimes against humanity by the administration of Nicolás Maduro at least since 2014, is advancing “without delay” and in parallel with the “principle of complementarity” with the Venezuelan authorities.

Khan stressed that he has not seen that the set of laws and practices that he expected to happen have been concretely applied in Venezuela, which is why he pointed out that the “path of complementarity is running out of path,” while saying that in At this moment it is the country’s authorities who have the command to act.
