In recent days, the Civil Defense of the state of São Paulo has recorded damage in several cities in the interior, mainly in the north and center-west regions. According to the agency, 324 alerts were sent over the last two days, via SMS.
There have been no confirmed deaths reported so far. More than 220 people had to leave their homes.
The entire state had been under alert for heavy rain since last Thursday, after the advance of a cold front coming from the border with Paraná.
In four measuring stations in the north of the state, in the Ribeirão Preto region, the accumulated values were above 150mm. In 17 cities in the interior, there were floods and the collapse of walls and large trees. In the capital of São Paulo, there was an accumulation of 95mm in the period and points of flooding in all regions.
There were also records of falling trees, lack of electricity for around 25 thousand customers of the Enel concessionaire and problems with traffic lights.
This Friday (8), the Federal Attorney General’s Office announced that it will request collective compensation in the amount of R$260 million for the interruption of supply. Earlier in the evening, the state government also announced legal measures against Enel, without informing the values claimed.
Canceled flights
According to a bulletin from the concessionaire Aena, which operates Congonhas Airport, 61 flights were canceled today, of which 36 arrivals and 25 departures. Another 32 flights, 16 arrivals and 16 departures, were canceled on Thursday.
The concessionaire attributed the cancellation to the airlines.
