After participating in COP27, Maduro urges Venezuela to be a food power

President Nicolás Maduro described as successful his Conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), explained that it was possible to agree on proposals for the production of seeds and for the promotion of agricultural trade and strengthen the treatment of soils and lands in the nation

The ruler Nicolás Maduro arrived in the country on the afternoon of November 9, after his visit to Egypt to participate in the meeting of the leaders at the XXVII Conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27).

In broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), he insisted on how urgent it is to turn Venezuela into a food power for Latin America and the Caribbean, as part of an epicenter of food production for humanity.

He described as “fruitful” the debate of the work tables on food safety. He explained that it was possible to agree on proposals for the production of seeds and for the promotion of agricultural trade and strengthen the treatment of soils and lands in the nation.

“We have the great challenge of turning Venezuela, with more than 33 million hectares of good soil, good water, good sun, into a food power for Latin America, the Caribbean and the world,” he stressed.

The president said that it was “a day of high impact within the summit itself, the positions that have been taken on behalf of our country. I think it has had a powerful impact on the debate and discussion of common ideas”.

Maduro welcomed the proposal to create a Financing Fund for nations that are victims of natural disasters.

On the other hand, he insisted that his government is willing, together with Colombia and Suriname, to defend, recover and regenerate the Brazilian Amazon at the plant and forest level.

“There was a consensus on the need to relaunch and strengthen the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) and, based on its relaunch and strengthening, propose an alliance with the world in defense of the Amazon,” he added.

He asserted that Venezuela is called to play an important role in regional, Latin American and Caribbean geopolitics, in the face of debates on climate change and the consequences that affect humanity.

“Venezuela has its own voice that is loved and admired by the people (…) the friendly, supportive, affectionate attitude of the main leaders and the militant people of the cause on world ecology and the fight against climate change is almost unanimous. that we have from our country”, he pointed out.
