After its exclusion from the general elections, Acción Popular elected its new electoral committee

Crisis in Popular Action: Cinthia Pajuelo asks for guarantees for her life

After the shame of being excluded from next April’s electoral process due to allegations of alleged fraud in their primary elections, Popular Action (AP) He begins to wash his face and rearrange the house, and last Saturday at his National Plenary he elected the new members of his Electoral Committee. The immediate objective of the lampa party is the regional and municipal elections of October 2026.

Nathalie Ubillús, architect and councilor of the Municipality of Lima; Ricardo Torres who was a candidate for the second vice presidency on Higinio Torres’ list in the primaries; and Erick Niño, member of the organization, achieved the maximum vote and will integrate the new committee as regular members.
Another of the main agreements taken on this 27th was to provide that, in the next session of the National Executive Committee (CEN), to be held before January 6, 2026, the vacancy of the National Secretary of Discipline, Luis Salas, be included on the agenda for the reason of “failure to fulfill duties and continuous absence.”
In the Plenary Session, the issue of Congressman Luis Aragón was not discussed, who will run for Congress for Avanza País as a guest, despite the party’s agreement that no militant participate in the next elections, after the JNE’s decision to exclude them from the process.

The president of Acción Popular, Julio Chávez, had announced last Friday to Perú21 that Aragón’s path would be that of expulsion, since the congressman betrayed the party by disobeying a plenary agreement.

ACCOUNTABILITY
In parallel to the decisions of the Plenary, a report from the National Treasury, dated December 29, revealed an internal problem in the party’s accountability.
The document signed by Gudelia Dueñas Gameros, national treasurer of the group and addressed to the Secretary General of the party, Juan Jose Abad, indicates the failure to render accounts of the funds transferred to the Departmental Electoral Committees for the expenses of the failed Internal Elections (EG2026).
Dueñas pointed out that the maximum deadline for this surrender expired on December 18, 2025 and recalled that both the Party Statute (Art. 49) and the General Election Regulations (Art. 57) oblige the departmental committees to report to the CNE, and the latter to report to the National Plenary, “under responsibility.”
The report stressed that the lack of supporting documentation constitutes an “express failure to comply with statutory obligations, a situation that generates administrative and party responsibility.”
