The National Emergency Office (Onemi) ordered the evacuation of four sectors of the Melipilla commune, Metropolitan region, after the voracious forest fire registered in the commune since this Sunday.
Specifically, the agency informed the population through an SAE alert that all people from the Mandinga, Altos de Popeta, San Juan de Popeta and Callejón Ovejería sectors evacuate to the Mandinga field.

They also urged not to return “to a danger zone or burnt area until the authority so decides. The fire could be reactivated.”
It should be remembered that a few hours ago, the Presidential Delegation of the Metropolitan Region, in coordination with the Onemi Regional Directorate, declared a Red Alert for the communes of Melipilla and San Pedro; however, in this last area, it was later cancelled.
According to information from the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), the incident called “Altos de Popeta” has consumed at least 20 hectares, and the situation that it was precisely causing was its proximity to nearby houses.
