President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will sign the creation of an inter-ministerial working group to propose actions to promote a culture of peace and combat violence in society. The announcement was made by the minister of the Social Communication Secretariat of the Presidency (Secom), Paulo Pimenta, amid consternation for the attack on a daycarein Blumenau (SC), which resulted in the death of four children, this Wednesday morning (5).
“The president was very dismayed by what happened in Blumenau and is following step by step the whole development of the situation”, said Pimenta in conversation with journalists, at the Planalto Palace. According to him, the working group will be formed by the ministries of Education, Justice and Public Security, Human Rights and Citizenship and the General Secretariat of the Presidency.
During the morning, a man of approximately 25 years of age invaded the Cantinho Bom Pastor day care center, in Blumenau (SC), in the Itajaí Valley, killing four children and injuring at least three others. The Civil Police reported that the author of the attack was arrested after turning himself in at the police duty station in the region.
The attack is the second in just over a week. On March 27th, teacher Elizabeth Tenreiro, 71 years old, died after being stabbed at the Thomazia Montoro State School, in the Vila Sônia neighborhood, in São Paulo. A 13-year-old teenager, responsible for the attack, has been apprehended.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva offered, this Tuesday (5), condolences to the families of the victims of the attack that took place at the Blumenau day care center.
“There is no greater pain than that of a family that loses its children or grandchildren, even more so in an act of violence against innocent and defenseless children. Pastor”, posted the president through his Twitter account.

According to minister Paulo Pimenta, Lula received manifestations of solidarity from other Latin American leaders, during a videoconference of the Food and Nutritional Security Summit, with the participation of the presidents of Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, among others.
