The news was shared by former presidential candidate Juan Sebastián Chamorro, who published a photograph showing Reyes’ two youngest daughters walking together in the corridor of an airport. The girls traveled to the United States accompanied by their mother, Fernanda Guevara.

The daughters and wife of Róger Reyes travel under the benefit of humanitarian parole. The family had been waiting for this reunion since last February, in which the opponent was exiled.

Róger Reyes was imprisoned by the Ortega-Murillo regime on August 20, 2021. He was put on trial for allegedly undermining national integrity and sovereignty. He sentenced to 10 years in jail. He spent a year and a half in the cells of the Directorate of Judicial Assistance in Managua, known as El Chipote, from where he was taken by the dictatorship on February 9, 2023 to be sent to the US and then stripped of his Nicaraguan nationality.

While he was in jail, his daughters were only able to see him twice, but that happened only after more than a year and after an intense national and international campaign for the regime to allow minors to see their parents in prison. jail.
