After the Ombudsman’s Office dealt with a case where there was alleged psychological abuse against a student from the Isabel Herrera Obaldía Professional School (EPIHO), the authorities recommended that the graduate return to the Educational Center to finish the year in person.
The Ombudsman’s Office followed up on the case this Thursday, November 17, 2022 and as an institution that guarantor of the protection and rights of minors requested the return of the student to the educational center.
According to the Childhood specialist at the Ombudsman, Gilberto Cuñapa, on a first visit the school director was unable to see him but on this occasion a meeting was held with Professor Martín Jones, the discipline commission, the guidance department and the team that integrates the psycho-pedagogical cabinet which was very important.
“We were told that the guidance team had already attended to the case since May, it can be assessed as a health situation that the student presented, which was a first observation and it was not until October 25 when the relative it exposes other situations such as poor communication, possible violation due to verbal violence and psychological abuse, affecting the educational process,” said Cuñapa.
The Childhood specialist added that a first teacher had already been notified in previous days while this Thursday the second teacher was notified so that they would be taking advantage of what is established by the disciplinary process of the educational establishment, while despite the fact that currently the girl attends to her responsibilities by modules, we request that this measure be changed so that the student returns to school and can finish the school year.
