After a hangover, the weather warms up again in Rio de Janeiro

Until Tuesday (16), the forecast is for clear to partly cloudy skies, without rain. Winds decrease to light to moderate, between 18.5 km/h to 51.9 km/h, and temperatures gradually rise. For today, the predicted maximum is 28 degrees Celsius (°C), with a minimum of 12°C during the dawn.

Tomorrow, when Father’s Day is celebrated, thermometers can reach 29°C with the low remaining at 12°C. For Monday (15), the forecast is for a minimum of 13°C and a maximum of 31°C rising to a minimum of 16°C and a maximum of 33°C on Tuesday (16).

The underwater pipeline that supplies water to Ilha de Paquetá, in Guanabara Bay, about 15 km from Rio de Janeiro, broke yesterday (12) and it was necessary to use ferries to guarantee water supply in the neighborhood.

According to the Águas do Rio concessionaire, the problem was identified about 300 meters from the Itaoca neighborhood, in São Gonçalo, and may have been caused by heavy rains and winds that hit the state. The repair is now complete.

“While the divers worked on the complex repair of the pipe, throughout the day, the supply on the island was maintained by means of two ferries with 690 thousand liters of water”, says the note from the concessionaire.

The hangover also led to the suspension of the third call, scheduled for yesterday (12), of the Itacoatiara Big Waves 2022 surfing championship, which would take place on the beach of the same name in the oceanic region of Niterói, metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro.

According to the organizers of the event, the peak of Laje do Shock received the expected large swells, up to 7 m in height, but the winds were out of the ideal direction, preventing the sport tow-inin which athletes are pulled by Jet Ski up to the waves.

In a video posted on the event’s social networks, the presenter and commentator of the championship, Bruno Bocayuva, explained that the athletes took advantage of the conditions at the peak of Ilha Mãe, also in Itacoatiara, to do a demonstration session.

“Shock is impractical, very heavy waves, with a direction of swel that will prevent the realization of the disputes there in the Shock. So we came here to the middle of Itacoatiara beach. There won’t be any disputes, but let’s make one expression sessiona free session with live broadcast, with an incredible crowd, there are already people in the water, it will be a spectacle”.
