Aerospace Industry Consolidates in Guanajuato: Diego Sinhue

With the laying of the first stone of the Horizontec company, the entity’s aerospace industry continues to consolidate, stated the state governor, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo.

Leading the laying of the first stone and the unveiling of the plaque of the Horizontec company in the hangar of the Celaya Airport, where the Halcón II Aircraft will be manufactured, the state president highlighted that the aerospace industry of Guanajuato in 2020 exported 5.8 million dollars in aeronautical products, since parts and components for Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier and Gulfstream are produced in the state.

The main exported products are aircraft parts, turbojets, turboprops and gas turbines. According to the Coordinator for the Promotion of Foreign Trade of the State of Guanajuato (Cofoce), there are 330 companies nationwide focused on the aerospace sector, of which 80% have a focus on manufacturing, the governor said.

The state president pointed out that Horizontec is a company that has to its credit the manufacture of the first plane made in the state: the Halcón 1 two-seater plane.

“The design and manufacturing had to go through many challenges. An aircraft that on September 30, 2017 made its first flight and perfectly completed the certification test program to ensure airworthiness criteria,” he added.

He recalled that on March 4, 2020 he received his certification from the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC).

“With this objective met, Horizontec has presented its first commercial product, the Halcón 2 aircraft,” the governor stressed.

It is a two-seater sports plane that can be used in three types of missions: one, basic training to form the next generation of pilots in Guanajuato; two, recreational flight, for those who are passionate about flying; and three, aerial surveillance for reconnaissance and security flights, he explained.

“The Halcón 2 is designed to respond to the needs of Mexican aviation. Offering competitive advantages such as efficiency, flight hour cost, ergonomics, ease and safety when piloting. In addition to the quality of its materials and the design of its construction. ”, He exposed.

Companies such as Grupo SSC, from San Miguel de Allende, which belongs to the aerospace sector in Guanajuato, and which is a leader in simulation software, participate in this great Horizontec project, he commented.

This joint collaboration of the companies is generating an innovation ecosystem, in which we all win, said Rodríguez Vallejo.

He reiterated in recognizing the company Horizontec and the 12 companies that make up the Bajío aerospace cluster, which are opening the way and making history.

“The aerospace industry in Guanajuato continues to strengthen and grow, we are moving forward. Our thanks to Horizontec for making history in Guanajuato”, the Governor pointed out.

Giovanni Angelucci Carrasco, director of Horizontec and vice president of the entity’s Aerospace Cluster, said that this is an important event; “Now we will have a house to continue with our projects, such as Halcón 2, and we are joining forces to strengthen the Guanajuato mindset.”

This ceremony was attended by the mayor of Celaya, Javier Mendoza Márquez; the president of the Guanajuato Aerospace Cluster, Óscar Rodríguez Yañez, and the presence of the Secretary of Sustainable Economic Development, Mauricio Usabiaga Díaz Barriga; among other authorities of the three levels of government and representatives of the private sector.

Continuing the working tour of the city of Celaya, the state governor, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, supervised the progress of the Celanese Road Distributor.

“Today we are here to supervise a great engineering work such as the Celanese Road Distributor. A vital work so that the great project of the Ferroférico of this city continues advancing and can be concluded”, he explained.

The president recognized the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation for the efforts made, and for all its support. In the same way, to the Ferromex company that has been applied so that this bypass of the Ferroférico continues advancing.

This is a great infrastructure work, which is 46 kilometers long: and it will come to solve the road chaos that is produced by the 19 railway crossings that cross the city.

Currently, the Ferromex AM line is underway with an overall progress, only on the main track, of 80 percent. Within this line is the construction of the Celanese Road Distributor, which will have a purely private investment of 570 million pesos, generating 350 direct jobs.

For our part, the state government and the municipality, we are building a rainwater collector with an investment of 15 million pesos, explained the state Executive, who was accompanied by the mayor, Javier Mendoza.

Similarly, the Municipal Drinking Water and Sewerage Board builds and rehabilitates drinking water lines, stormwater drainage and sewerage that will benefit the three main communities that adjoin the Celanese Road Distributor: Michinelas, Los Mancera and Santa Anita.

The distributor will allow the simultaneous passage between the vehicular flow of the city and the passage of the railway, it will consolidate the logistics vocation of Celaya and the region, he explained.

A work that will give greater security to Celayans and visitors, as well as greater functionality, saving time on journeys, lower fuel consumption and less pollution in the city, he added.

For all these reasons, our appreciation to the federal government, Ferromex and the municipality of Celaya for joining forces in this great project such as the Ferroférico.

“I celebrate that a work like this Road Distributor promotes the development of Celaya, so that it continues to be an important logistics hub in Guanajuato,” said the governor.
