In Brasília, until 9:30 am this Monday (19), the strike by aeronauts resulted in 25 delays – 14 in takeoffs and 11 in landings – at the Juscelino Kubitschek International Airport. The category, which claims better working conditions and wage adjustments, had a two-hour stoppage early in the morning.
According to Infraemerica, the terminal’s concessionaire, two flights were cancelled: one coming from Salvador and the other bound for Fortaleza. Also according to the concessionaire, the strike brought together a small group of demonstrators at the entrance of domestic boarding.
Passengers with trips scheduled for this Monday are advised to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours in advance. In case of doubt, the airline must be contacted.
Fortaleza and Porto Alegre
In Fortaleza, the Pinto Martins Airport had at least seven flights delayed as a result of the aeronauts’ strike. Of the delayed flights, six were destined for São Paulo: three from Gol and three from Latam. There was also a delay in flights to Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia.
At Salgado Filho Airport, in Porto Alegre, where adherence to the strike was lower, until 9:30 am, two departures and two arrivals were canceled at the terminal. There were also seven delays until 9:30 am. All flights were destined for Congonhas and Guarulhos airports.
Despite this information, Brazil Agency the advisory of Fraport Brasil, the concessionaire that manages the airports of Fortaleza and Porto Alegre, said that the two terminals did not register any problems this morning. The concessionaire reinforced what was found on the airline panels, that the delays registered both in Fortaleza and in Porto Alegre were a reflection of problems in other terminals, especially those in São Paulo.
In a note, Fraport Brasil also said that it has no management over the strike or over the procedures of airlines for rescheduling flights. The concessionaire directs users to monitor possible delays and/or cancellations of flights through the flight panel on its website, which has a tool updated in real time for airports in Strength and Porto Alegre
Airlines
In a note, Latam said that the airline had only a few delays, on a timely basis, and asks customers to check the status of the flight at company website?? “For impacted customers, the company reinforces that they will be properly guided and will have observed the rights provided for in the regulation”, said Latam.
Gol, without giving a balance, said that all scheduled flights were operated and “only a few suffered delays”. The company also advises that flight schedules be checked by communication channels of the company.

Aeronauts are all professionals who work inside an aircraft, such as the commander (pilot), co-pilot, flight attendant, flight mechanic, navigator and flight radio operator. The president of the National Union of Aeronauts (SNA), Henrique Hacklaender, informed that the strike was called to take place every day, starting this Monday, the 19th, early in the morning, between 6 and 8 am.
With the announcement of the stoppage, just last week, the Superior Labor Court (TST) determined that only 10% of employees can participate. The daily fine, in case of non-compliance with the decision, will be R$ 200 thousand reais.
The National Union of Airline Companies (SNEA) informed that last weekend a proposal was presented by the TST which was accepted by the airlines, but rejected by the aeronauts. The entity says it believes that professional categories can defend their interests by all legitimate means, as long as the negotiating path is exhausted and legality is observed.
