Air cargo moved at air terminals operated by Dominican Airports 21st Century (Aerodom) reached 111,331 metric tons (TM) in 2025, for a growth of 13% compared to 2024, being “the highest level recorded” according to the concessionaire.
He Las Americas International Airport José Francisco Peña Gómez (AILA), concentrated approximately 75% of the total volume and 90% of the value of the country’s air cargo, registering 109,686 MT mobilized during the year.
The 13% increase was driven by performance in major markets, with increases towards USA (19%), the Caribbean (13%) and Europe (8%).
Operational milestones
The opening of a new express mail terminal of the General Directorate of Customs that operates 24 hours a day; the arrival of Prime Airwhich selected SDQ as its second airport in the Latin American region, and the start of regular and annual cargo transit operations between the United States and the Caribbean via SDQ, are among the operational milestones achieved by Aerodom last year, the company highlights in a press release.
“This sustained growth evidences the consolidation of origin-destination cargo from the Dominican Republic in our airports,” said the chief financial officer (CFO) of Aerodom, Damien Stephan.
“The 2025 milestones, especially the start of regular transit operations, show that we are already executing the next goal: fully develop the transit cargo to continue positioning the country as the logistics hub of the Caribbean,” he added.

According to the company, the value proposition of the AILA is based on its geographic locationair connectivity, specialized infrastructure and the presence of key entities on the premises, which allows reducing processing times and offering a comprehensive logistics service.
