Santo Domingo. – He Telephone signal blockade In penitentiary enclosures progress as part of an effort to eliminate the alleged criminal activities that orchestrated from prisons, according to the General Director of Penitentiary and Correctional Services (DGSPC), Roberto Hernández Basilio.
The official highlighted the support of Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) and its president, Guido Gómez Mazarawho has accompanied the tours of the country’s prison centers.
As he said, the telephone signal blocking project will be completely operational in a short time.

Hernández Basilio offered these statements during the presentation of his management memories 2020-2024where he assured that the support of the State has been key to achieving the goal of restricting illegal communications from prisons.
It has been pointed out on several occasions that some criminal activities in the streets have been coordinated from enclosures such as La Victoria, in Santo Domingo Norte, and Najayo, in San Cristóbal.
In addition, he highlighted the construction and readjustment of new prison centers, in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Buildings (MIVED), as part of the improvements that society has demanded for years.
“The advances in the construction of prison centers in its final phase, such as those of Pedro Short, in San Juan; Las Parras, in Santo Domingo; and the Center for Provisional Liberty of Higüey, in Altagracia, place the country on the route of the solution of the historical problems of the prison system, ”said the director of the DGSPC.
