Advances in sustainable tourism are weighed in a panel

President Louis Abinader yesterday at the National Palace headed a panel on Sustainable and Accessible Tourism, accompanied by abdullah shahidPresident of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).

“For me it has been an honor to lead this panel together with Abdulia Shaid, to discuss tourism opportunities, a fundamental sector for the definitive economic recovery and job creation,” said the president.

During his speech, Abinader specified that “in countries like ours, the economy depends on more than 30% of the tourism sector, in some cases by more than 80%”.

He concluded by highlighting that it is a pride that this visit is the first of President Shahid to Latin America.

In this context, the vice president of the Punta Cana group said that one of the threats to consider in the future is climate change, so strategies must be created to face the situation.
