Morel must gather 70 million for salaries and have only 52, announced a retirement incentive plan and defended changes in transit after citizen consultation
At a press conference, the mayor of Cerro Largo, Christian Morel, presented the complex financial situation inherited by the commune and advanced measures to avoid the mass cessation of officials, while defending changes in urban transit after a consultation made to the citizens.
Morel reported that the Intendance must gather 70 million pesos, linked to commitments with NGOs and settlement of assets, of which it already has 52.
He explained that 19 million are owed for cessations and resignations, in addition to 9 million pesos in licenses and holiday wages. “All this is inheritance, and the payment of vacation wages will depend on the income of the twelfth. The first thing we are going to do with that money is to settle with the workers,” affirmed.
In this scenario, the communal chief stressed that they are working next to the farm area in a retirement incentive plan for officials over 65. The goal, he said, is to reduce the impact of cessations. “There is talk of 300, it was a number that I managed myself. But with this incentive we would be avoiding between 80 and 90 cessations, and that would leave me very happy,” held.

In addition, the mayor addressed measures linked to traffic in Melo, an issue that has generated debate. He explained that before defining the arrow from certain streets a consultation was made to the population. “Government by asking people when I’m not sure I am doing. We did a survey and 89% replied that it was best to flex that block, that’s why you are going to arrow,” pointed out.
Morel added that other streets will also be modified by investment projects through the IDF, and that the Intendance undertakes to control compliance with the regulations. “What seemed barbarian was the compulsa: the people replied, participated and I am delighted, because what we want is that, that then there are no voices saying different things in the opposition,” He stressed.
As for the specific case of June 14, the mayor explained that from Route 26 to Murguía it will be arrowed from south to north due to the presence of a traffic light that hinders traffic organization.
