Adriano Miguel Tejada is recognized with a new street in Moca

The Council of Aldermen of the Moca City Council formally approved a resolution by which a street in that city is named after the prominent journalist, lawyer and historian Adriano Miguel Tejada Escobozain recognition of his valuable intellectual, cultural and journalistic legacy.

The resolution establishes that the old street Antonio Passicálocated in the Mejoramiento Social neighborhood, will, from now on, be called the street Adriano Miguel Tejada.

The designation meets the requirements established in municipal regulations, having met, in December 2025, five years since the death of the honoreewhich occurred on December 2, 2020.

The resolution instructs the Directorate of Urban Planning and Roads to carry out the corresponding technical survey and proceed with the installation of official signage. Likewise, it entrusts the Special Expanded Commission on Culture integrate this designation into the final report on the review of the municipality’s road nomenclature.

The initiative had the support of citizens, social, academic and community sectors, as well as local authorities.

Born in Moca in 1948, Adriano Miguel Tejada He was one of the most influential intellectual figures of his generation. Lawyer graduated from the Pontifical Catholic Mother and Teacher University (PUCMM), obtained a master’s degree in Political sciences in Temple University and developed an outstanding career as a university professor, historian, State consultant and journalist.

He was a member of the Dominican Academy of Historycolumnist, commentator and author of relevant works on law, politics and Dominican history.

His leadership in the national press, as director of the newspapers The Information and Free Diaryas well as his firm commitment to institutions, public ethics and the defense of democracy, consolidate him as one of the most illustrious Mocanos of the last century.

  • With this designation, the city of Mocha pays a well-deserved tribute to the life and work of Adriano Miguel Tejadapreserving his legacy and projecting it as a reference for future generations of Mocanos and Dominicans.
