At a meeting with the press this Saturday, before his induction into the MLB Hall of Fame which will take place on July 21, Adrián Beltré revealed how he sees himself, in relation to sport, after his entry into the club of the immortals of the Big Top.

Asked if he wants to return to active baseball, as a manager, coach or at a managerial level – and responding to rumors that he could return to the major leagues as a strategist – Beltré is clear. “I don’t see myself as a coach, nor as a manager. What I would like is to be like an assistant to support new talents. To contribute a grain of sand to the growth of the sport. But I don’t see myself fully involved in the activity.”

Asked if he ever saw himself as a member of the Cooperstown Hall of Fame, Beltré said that “it was not in my goals.” However, he insisted that it gives him great satisfaction and recalled, among other episodes, comments from various people who belittled his arrival. Comments that, he said, he did not take into account.

Beltré, who played in MLB with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers, said that he will wear the cap of the latter team when he enters Cooperstown.

What time will Adrián Beltré’s induction take place on July 21?

Adrian Beltre is the fifth player from the Dominican Republic to be elected to the Hall of Fame after obtaining 95.1% of the votes in his first attempt. The other four Dominicans inducted in history are pitchers Juan Marichal (1983) and Pedro Martinez (2015), outfielder Vladimir Guerrero (2018) and designated hitter David Ortiz (2022).

A four-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove winner at third base, Beltre hit .286 with 477 homers and 1,707 RBIs for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1998-2004), Seattle (2005-09), Boston (2010) and Texas (2011-18). His 2,759 games at third base ranked second on the all-time list behind Brooks Robinson’s 2,870, and his 636 doubles ranked 11th all-time.

The induction ceremony for Adrián Beltré into the MLB Hall of Fame, along with Joe Mauer and Todd Helton, will take place at 1:30 pm (Dominican time).
