ADR and the Government of Sucre carry out agro-productive investment in La Mojana

La Mojana, one of the regions most affected by river overflows and strong winter seasons in the department of Sucre, receives a significant boost with the approval of an investment of $9,331 million for agricultural development.

This initiative marks a milestone for hundreds of small producers in the area, who for years have faced the ravages of floods.

The ‘Comprehensive Strategic Agricultural and Rural Development Project for the Subregions of La Mojana and San Jorge’ arises thanks to the coordinated work between the Government of Sucre, led by Lucy García Montes, and the Rural Development Agency (ADR), under the direction by César Pachón. This project seeks to strengthen agricultural productivity and improve the quality of life of farmers in the region.

During the official presentation of the project in the municipality of San Marcos, Governor Lucy García highlighted the relevance of this investment.

This is confirmation to Colombia and the world that the great region of Mojana de Sucre is a true land of opportunities. After so many years of disasters and victims that severe winters leave us, today, with the support and joint work with the Government, we arrive with real solutions that will generate employment, productivity and food security for the entire country.“he stated.

The official also emphasized the direct impact of the project on rural communities. Since through this project today they are delivering eight banks of agricultural machinery to eight peasant associations. that will make the development of this territory possible with the planting of rice and corn.

It will be eight important months of hard work, where you will put all your capabilities to improve productivity, we will be working in an articulated manner with the Rural Development Agency, the department of Sucre and each of the mayors.“García pointed out.

The project has a financing scheme where The ADR contributes $4,284 million, the Government of Sucre contributes $3,000 million, the beneficiaries allocate $2,014 million and the Bioentorno Foundation adds $17 million pesos. In its initial phase, it will benefit 1,300 small peasant producers, consolidating a joint effort that promises structural solutions for the region.

The plan contemplates the planting of dry rice and mechanized yellow corn in a total area of ​​1,296 hectares, allocating one hectare per beneficiary. Besides, Advanced soil mechanization technologies, use of certified seeds and agronomic practices adapted to local conditions will be implemented. All this will be supported by a comprehensive technical, productive, organizational and commercial support plan.

The provision of eight banks of agricultural machinery will strengthen the creation of sustainable business models, ensuring the provision of agricultural services in the subregions of La Mojana and San Jorge. With these actions, It is expected to reactivate the rural economy, guarantee food security and improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable communities in Sucre.
