During the month of February, different sections of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) have called for days of protests in several provinces of the country, causing the partial reduction of the teaching in numerous educational centers.

In Santiago
Two weeks ago, the ADP, sectional Santiagomade a manifestation in front of Educational District 08-03in protest of alleged attacks and assaults against teachers, as part of a fight plan in defense of the national teaching profession.
During the day, the union announced the suspension of the teaching in 76 educational centers belonging to different districts of the province.
The protest was led by the provincial president of the institution, Miguel Jorgewho, along with dozens of teachers, proclaimed the slogan “ADP united will never be defeated”, expressing the unity of the union in the face of what he defined as attempts by sectors to weaken the union.
Impact on the teaching
So far in February alone, these calls have caused daily reduction of class hours and suspension of the teaching in some centers.
The autonomy with which they operate 122 sectional of the ADP is reflected in the making of decisions that frequently involve the loss of teaching.
Although each of these local agencies has its own president, the organization maintains a national presidency headed by Eduardo Hidalgowho is responsible for drawing up the central guidelines of the union.
However, in practice, the sections have made decisions that, on occasions, go beyond the line marked by the National Executive Committee (CEN). In order to address this situation, the CEN has in the past called the presidents of all sections to a meeting.
The goal: establish common mechanisms to manage conflicts of the educational sector and promote dialogue as the first way to solve.
