The Dominican Association of Teachers and Teachers (ADP) described President Luis Abinader’s accountability speech as a “mockery” and denied that there is a full guarantee of the right to education pre-university as stated by the president.
“The right to education does not consist simply in the freedom to attend school, but rather the right to education requires that public schools have the inputs, processes and social and educational policies that enable the achievement of the expected learning in our students, which is not guaranteed in the state of situation in which the school is located. education pre-university school in the Dominican Republic today,” said the ADP.
Through a statement, the ADP indicated that, in a system with more than 2 million students in public schools, Abinader wants to present as an achievement that 2,014 students have received a voucher to be attended in schools as a solution to the lack of space in schools and high schools public.
He assured that the classroom deficit currently exceeds 10,000 and that the school buildings carried out in the past two years do not even cover 10% of this deficit.
“One of the biggest problems of the education public is precisely the student overcrowding produced by the lack of space in educational centers, which makes it difficult for students to achieve the expected learning”, reaffirmed the ADP.
The teachers’ union described Abinader’s statements as a “mockery” in relation to the fact that no boy or girl was left out of the classroom this school year.

Regarding the arguments about giving out hundreds of thousands of devices to students in the past two years, the ADP He questioned the poor configuration of this equipment and warned that most of these devices are already damaged, that many have not worked since they were delivered, and that there is no control and monitoring system for the use of the devices that are still in operation.
