The Dominican Association of Exporters (ADOEXPO) expressed this Monday its concern about the proposal to modify article 50 of law number 392-07, on Competitiveness and Industrial Innovation (Proindustria), contained in the draft tax modernization reform presented by the Government.
The president of ADOEXPO, Karel Castillo, warned that this modification would represent a serious setback for the Dominican export sector, since the law of Proindustria It encourages companies to invest, innovate and generate better jobs.
«Eliminating the incentives contemplated in article 50 of law number 392-07 would affect the capacity of the productive units national to compete abroad, putting at risk thousands of formal jobs and the economic growth of the country,” declared Castillo.
The Proindustria law, ratified by the president Abinader In 2020, it promotes national production, strengthens exports of goods, encourages investment in new technologies, research and development, achieving greater competitiveness in the local industry, which is essential for the diversification of the export sector,” said Castillo.
The business leader stated that making changes to this law in such a short time threatens the legal security and stability of our sector.”
ADOEXPO calls on the president Luis Abinader Corona to open a dialogue with the export sector to avoid compromising the competitiveness of companies and the well-being of thousands of Dominicans who depend on that sector.
