The twelfth for Morel in reserve to put out a fire
As we reported, the Departmental Board of Cerro Largo, in the last session of the plenary session, granted permission to the Municipality of Cerro Largo so that it can manage lines of credit.
The most important is for a value equivalent to the twelfth of the Five-Year Budget of the previous period and another equal to 20% of the budget allocated to works, also voted in the budget for the last period.
“Knowing that the issue of the twelfth was voted unanimously seems wonderful to me. Although it is money that we will have reserved to put out a fire, it will also open up the possibility of being able to achieve the municipalization of waste collection.” advancement Christian Morel.
“That is my dream and maybe at some point we can achieve it” said the Mayor of Cerro Largo.
It is worth remembering that for more than a decade, waste collection in the downtown area and center of the city of Melo has been carried out by a private company. In the rest of the city the Municipality does it.
SMALL CHANGES TO THE RAMBLA COSTANERA PROJECT
The mega work presented and promoted in the Yurramendi Administration will be financed with funds from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and a counterpart from the Municipality itself.
“Like any project that is carried out through an international tender, it has many returns. When we won and when we took over, we were looking at the project. Returns were made about certain things that had to be changed, it returned to the IDB, it returned to the Municipality, we just responded to other observations. Let’s hope that in December we can advance a little more because from the Inter-American Bank it goes to the Court of Auditors. These are times that I must and have to know how to manage and that are necessary” said the Mayor.
He clarified that these modifications are small, that they are made to improve some aspects of the project.
CERRO LARGO CLUB SPORTS COMPLEX
On Saturday morning, Christian Morel participated in the laying of the foundation stone on the property where the Sports Complex will soon begin to rise. “Lorenzo Albano” from Cerro Largo Football Club.
“After 55 business days of work, a little more than 90 of the Government, I had to sign the commitment in bailment with the consent of the Departmental Board so that Cerro Largo can use that place for 30 years” highlighted the property that is located in the area known as Potrero del Estado. “I received criticism telling me that nothing was going to be done. Now, in just a few days, they are already working, they are already in construction and in a matter of 5 or 6 months the fields will be leveled, which is the most important thing” he added.
“It is essential to strengthen spaces where there has never been anything before. What’s more, at one point one of the Councilors hesitated, called me to tell me that nothing was going to be done there, to which I responded that if we didn’t give them the opportunity, we couldn’t criticize.” Morel said. “To ensure that, we put as a single clause that the work had to be done in 3 years. This for the simple reason that I want to be a Mayor who enjoys the works” express.
KEEP WHAT IS PROMISED
When he launched his candidacy and during the electoral campaign fundamentally, the former Mayor of Río Branco generated a lot of expectation in the people, an expectation that involves a change in the way the Municipality is managed.
“I don’t think I’ll disappoint anyone because I’m going to do everything I said I was going to do. Maybe there are people who aren’t happy, but I’m sure that when we cross the line they’ll understand us. Everything we’re doing is for the good of Cerro Largo, we had to adjust, we had to take care, we had to put all our effort into making it a great government where we already paid $35,000,000 from the previous government in debts with suppliers, where we already paid $ 20,000,000 between licenses and resignations that had remained from the previous period. Now we are raising $4,000,000 to pay our severance pay. “We said we were going to stop 300 people and we have only stopped 169.” remarked Christian Morel, Mayor of Cerro Largo.
