Ademys confirmed a teacher strike for the day classes start

Next Monday, February 21, the teachers grouped in Ademys will carry out a stoppage of activities in CABA

The press secretary of the Ademys teaching union, Marisabel Grau, confirmed this Thursday that this entity will carry out a stoppage of activities next Monday in the schools of Buenos Aires, the day on which the start of the school year in the district is scheduledwhen considering that “the conditions are not given” for the beginning of classes.

“We resolved in an assembly the call for a 24-hour strike for next Monday, February 21, the day on which the City Government stipulated the start of the school year in initial and primary. We believe that the conditions are not given due to many problems, for the school year to start,” said the leader in dialogue with FM La Patriada.

Grau affirmed that the first problem is salary, since the Buenos Aires government headed by Horacio Rodríguez Larreta “offered absolutely no percentage increase” for the teaching sector.

“They are waiting for the Nation” –which in the national parity– has not yet formulated a salary increase proposal. In an adjustment policy, education is always the first thing from which resources are taken,” she pointed out.

But he recalled that there are other unresolved conflicts in the City, and that “Teaching is not being able to access positions” because they are managed through online procedures that “are being very irregular and are being suspended almost every day because the platforms do not work.”

Because, He demanded that the contests be face-to-face, and that the teachers “vote again for those who are going to carry out the contests.”

“We want to have control and interference (in the public acts of assigning positions) to guarantee transparency. There are a huge number of infrastructure problems and lack of vacancies. We have overcrowded classrooms at the secondary level with up to 40 students per course,” he pointed out. Grau.
