In its final stage, the women’s voluntary initial military service 2025 begins, this Monday (12), the complementary selection process. In a note, the Ministry of Defense informed that the deadline remains until February 20 across the country, but that the dates vary according to the schedule of each Force.
“The joint initiative of the three Forces is unprecedented and signals a milestone in the expansion and entry of women into the ranks of the Navy, Army and Air Forces”, highlighted the statement.
According to the ministry, during the complementary selection, new clinical examinations and interviews will be carried out, as well as assessment of technical attributes and physical preparation, basic requirements for military training. Those called up can check the schedule in the Force unit to which they were assigned in the official enlistment website.
“After the official act of incorporation, military service will become mandatory, in accordance with Law No. 4,375, of August 17, 1964, and in the Decree No. 57,654, of January 20, 1966. The men and women incorporated will not have stability in military service”, highlighted the ministry.
Incorporation
Still according to the ministry, The forecast is that, in 2026, the incorporation of selected women will occur in two moments: from March 2nd to 6th and from August 3rd to 7th. In the Navy, military women will join as recruit sailors. Already in the Army and Air Force, as a soldier, “having the same rights and duties as men”.
Initially, 1,467 vacancies are offered, 157 for the Navy, 1,010 for the Army and 300 for the Air Force. The opportunities are distributed across 51 municipalities, covering military units from the three Forces in 13 states, in addition to the Federal District.
Mandatory military service
Data from the ministry show that, in 2025, military service surpassed the mark of 1 million enlisted across the country, with around 34 thousand women volunteering for recruitment. For male enlistment, which is mandatory, 1,029,323 men were enlisted.
“It is through military enlistment that the Armed Forces annually renew the majority of their personnel, offering young people the opportunity to serve the Fatherland. This training guarantees qualified human resources and a strategic reserve for eventual national mobilization”, concluded the ministry.
