During the plenary session of the Morena senators, López Hernández explained that he made the decision to withdraw from coordination to focus on strengthening the internal unity of the party. “A moment ago I informed the Morena parliamentary group that I have decided to withdraw from coordination. The possibility of carrying out political-electoral work towards the 2027 elections opens up. Now I must dedicate myself full time to strengthening unity within the party,” he indicated.
The senator also pointed out that he fulfilled the tasks assigned when assuming coordination, such as the construction of a qualified majority and the consolidation of Plan C, promoted by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. This plan includes a dozen reforms, such as the judicial one.
In addition, he denied rumors that link him with a possible appointment as ambassador. “I prefer to be on land, helping to strengthen Morena, instead of thinking about being part of the diplomatic corps,” he said.
Looking ahead to the 2027 federal elections, López Hernández mentioned that he will operate in constituency IV, which includes Mexico City, Guerrero, Morelos, Puebla and Tlaxcala. “Our objective is to win all the governorships and maintain the qualified majority in San Lázaro,” he assured.
