The coordinator of Morena in the Senate, Adam Augusto López Hernández, acknowledged that between 2023 and 2024 he obtained income of more than 78 million pesos, which, he said, are part of his legal business activity and a paternal inheritance that he recovered in the United States.
That income “are duly declared and registered with the SAT (Tax Administration Service) and in my patrimonial statements. The imprecise and malicious is to affirm that I hid them or that I only reported 622 thousand pesos. That is false.”
In a conference he convened early, and in which he faced hard questions, the president of the Senate’s Political Coordination Board made it clear that he will not renounce the legislative positions he holds.
“I was appointed for six years and I have the back of the bench. There is no license request, on the contrary, there is solidarity and unity,” he warned and commented that he does not feel bad for having appointed Secretary of Security in the Government of Tabasco to Hernán Bermúdez Requena, since he had experience and gave him results.
“If I was governor again and had to make the decision again to appoint a Secretary of Public Security, already with the experience, because I would surely not appoint a character like him. But, let’s say, I do not feel bad, if that is his question, for having named Bermúdez. He gave results.”
López Hernández denied having received millionaire transfers from two companies – which allegedly granted contracts in his management as Governor of Tabasco – as donations to his 2024 campaign for the candidacy of Morena to the Presidency of the Republic.
“I did not receive transfers, they paid me for professional or moral professional services,” he said and insisted that he has not incurred conflict of interest.
He described the figures that spread Thursday night in a news such as “a barrage of falsehoods and inaccuracies.” He read fiscal documents and stated that in 2023 he had taxable income for 22 million 626 thousand 398 pesos, and in 2024 there were 56 million, mainly derived from the provision of professional services, leases, sale of livestock and financial returns, for which he paid the respective taxes.
He also explained that part of that income corresponds to an inheritance received in the United States after a long litigation for assets of his father, who kept his savings in bank accounts in Texas, in addition to land, rental of real estate, sale of cattle, among others. This adds 78 million pesos, which declared the SAT.
He did not detail the amount of the inheritance, he only explained that it was a long litigation, and his brothers and he have another judgment, this one for the maternal legacy, which also includes benches and a department in Houston.
Its month by month in month this year are “about 5 or 6 million pesos,” he said.
The conference went up. A reporter asked him if she is a “political eviction”, and the Morenista coordinator revived him with the phrase of the work Don Juan Tenorio: “The dead that Matáis enjoys full health,” and accused some communicators of lying around the figures of their income.
The senator said he knows who is behind the “discredit campaign against him”, but did not want to specify who or who. He only rejected that it is “friendly fire” and said that “those who build breaking scenarios, of differences” in the 4T are going to be left with the desire.
