“Rest in the peace of the Lord, Benedict XVI. From Asunción-Paraguay we unite in prayer for the eternal rest of the Pope Emeritus (1927-2022)”, wrote Adalberto Martínez through his Twitter account.
He also reported that From January 2, the body will be in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican until the solemn funeral ceremonies.
Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI died today at the age of 95 in the Vatican’s Mater Ecclesiae Monastery, where he resided since his historic resignation from the pontificate in 2013.

The announcement was given by the Holy See through a statement. The death occurred at 9:34 in the morning of Rome.
Concern for the state of health of the German pope and theologian arose on Wednesday, December 28, when his successor, Francis, acknowledged that he was “very ill” and asked for “a special prayer” from the faithful who attended his general audience.
