AD evaluates reform of the Hydrocarbons Law as a historic opportunity

In the opinion of the National Secretary General of Democratic Action (AD) and deputy to the National Assembly, Bernabé Gutiérrez, the reform of the Organic Law of Hydrocarbons and the creation of a social fund represent a historic opportunity for Venezuela, opening the possibility of transforming oil wealth into collective well-being.

The leader estimates that this approach seeks not only to modernize the legal framework of the energy industry, but also to guarantee that oil revenues translate into tangible improvements for the population in critical areas such as health, food and infrastructure. “This is a key moment to redefine the economic and social course of the country,” he expressed this Monday at a press conference.

In this context, Gutiérrez expressed his firm support for the reform of the norm, highlighting that it is an essential step to attract international investment and strengthen the competitiveness of the sector.

According to their statements, they could become an engine of national development. Updating the law would allow for better use of energy resources and adaptation to the demands of the global market.

Gutiérrez also emphasized the importance of the benefits of oil activity not remaining solely in the economic sphere, but rather being channeled into a social fund that addresses the most urgent needs of citizens. With this mechanism, the aim is to guarantee that the wealth generated by oil is converted into more equipped hospitals, more solid food programs and infrastructure works that promote the progress of communities. The proposal aims at a more inclusive and sustainable development model.

He assured that the support for the reform of the Organic Law of Hydrocarbons and the creation of a social fund reflect a strategic vision for the future of Venezuela.

With transparent management and the support of the international sector, the country could move towards a stage of economic and social recovery, where oil wealth stops being an isolated resource and becomes the basis of a national project that prioritizes the well-being of all Venezuelans.

“The country cannot be handed over on a silver platter to the United States or any other nation,” he expressed and assured that AD will remain firm in defending the country’s sovereignty.
