MADRID, Spain.- The Cuban actor Ulyk Anello, who at the end of last September exploded against the ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel, arrived in Miami in recent hours.
After his arrival in the United States, he was interviewed on the program Maka’s house where he was asked if before making his direct from Instagram against the regime he had already planned to leave the country.
“I had been holding on for many days. Long before the blackouts, long before my children’s food spoiled, I was unwell… Stress killed my hands. It was a cumulative thing. When I saw that the fridge was empty there I exploded, blinded myself. I didn’t know I was going to leave Cuba. I had no money to go. I did it because it was what I felt at that moment, because I couldn’t take the rage I had inside anymore and I exploded, “he said about it.
Regarding the way to leave Cuba, he explained that since 2013 he had a residence in Mexico, a country where he traveled on several occasions to “mule, because it was the only way he had to make money to repair his house.”
Mexico was the way to leave Cuba, and thanks to two friends who paid for his ticket, he explained.
After the direct ones, one of these friends called him and told him, “pick up your cheles, I’m going to get you out of Cuba because worse things will come later,” explained the renowned actor.
“They paid for my ticket to Cancun until the time came to get here (United States). I will be forever grateful to them,” she added.
During the program, Ulyk Anello recalled that it was not the first time he had made publications denouncing the situation in Cuba.
Just as he explained that he had been sanctioned for granting an interview to a Miami-based journalist and having a photo of a white flower on his Facebook profile.
Regarding his departure from the country, he also said that he was leaving his children with regret, but that this is the only way to make them free one day.
“I don’t want a future in that country for my children. I don’t want them to go through what I went through,” she declared.
Ulyk Anello explodes against the regime
Last September, after the passage of Hurricane Ian and after three days of blackout, Anello published two videos on his Instagram account calling for Díaz-Canel’s resignation.
“Here I have been without power for three days,” said the actor in the first of his videos. “Díaz-Canel, with you, my brother. You have food because the pin rams give it to you… those who put you as president. My children are running out of food. When the food I have there rots, I’m going to put it on the door of the Council of State”, he warned.
The actor also asked Díaz-Canel to resign. “You don’t solve anything. Where are the many millions that were donated to you to fix the thermoelectric pin… the one that doesn’t work? Where are they? Never seen this in life. A lot of muelita, a lot of blah blah blah and you don’t solve anything. Just leave already,” he requested.
In the second video, Anello suggested that he did not fear the consequences of his words. “Now this is so that they come looking for me, Special Brigades, everyone. They are going to have to kill me or throw me out of this country because I am not going to shut up anymore,” he said.
“You don’t play with my children’s food. Do not play. I’m going to be the lace that fucks you in the shoe, as Los Aldeanos say. Either you solve the problem or you’re going to have to kick me out of this country like they did with louis denerthat they paid his ticket for him to leave,” he said, addressing Díaz-Canel again.
“Pay me the ticket and I’ll go and I won’t bother you anymore. Pay the ticket to all the Cubans who want you to leave now, to resign now. How long will your disrespect be? (…) This system does not work, my brother, it does not work. Already. He resigns. Go to hell. Hand this over,” he insisted.
Days after these statements, Arleen Rodríguez Derivet, deputy director of the program Round table and spokeswoman for the Cuban regime, attacked Anello.
In its “Chapeando Bajito” podcast and without mentioning Anello’s name, Derivet said of the actor: “He yelled, he insulted, he asked that the president resign, that he be arrested and expelled from the country and, since nobody did, he went to the airport and from there who knows where”.
