Beverly Hills, United States. From subversive superheroes to sports documentaries: Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds said he is focused on exploring new storytelling forms, after receiving a prestigious award from the film industry.

Comic book star like Deadpool and “Green Lantern” made headlines last year when he bought Welsh football team Wrexham, along with fellow actor Rob McElhenney.
The acquisition and attempts to revive the legendary team inspired the hit TV series Welcome to Wrexhama bet in line with the growing trend of sports documentaries.
Sport “is telling stories in real time. So I love applying that to Wrexham,” Reynolds said Thursday, during a gala in the exclusive neighborhood of Beverly Hillsin Los Angeles.
“I fell in love not only with Wrexham but also with the people of Wales. I knew it would root me in the city, but I didn’t know it was going to be something so deep and so fast.”he explained.

“It has been incredible. It has truly been one of the great privileges of my life.”he stated enthusiastically.
While “Welcome to Wrexham” is unusual in that its stars and producers bought the club, despite admitting they knew next to nothing about football, sports documentaries in general have grown in popularity of late.
Netflix He was successful with the basketball series “El último baile” and the automotive series “Formula 1: The emotion of a Grand Prix”while the popular “All or Nothing” franchise from Amazon Prime offers fans a glimpse of what goes on inside the elite teams of world soccer and American football.
“We live in a world that moves incredibly fast. If you can move at the speed with which people talk, when they talk about it, you can move mountains, and that is sport.”Reynolds said.
The actor told Jimmy Fallon’s talk show host last week that he is interested in buying a much bigger franchise: the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL).
When asked about that offer at Thursday’s gala, Reynolds only said: “We’ll see”.
“SUPERHEROES AND TERROR”
Reynolds received the American Cinematheque award, which is given to just one star at the annual event. Previous honorees include Al Pacino, Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg.
The actor, who also has significant businesses, including stakes in a gin brand and a cell phone company, is working on “Deadpool 3,” another installment in his hit series of R-rated movies about a foul-mouthed superhero.
“I think what made ‘Deadpool’ special and the reason I loved it is that it subverts the genre”he explained.
“When you can subvert a genre like that, particularly one that is as robust as the superhero genre, you seize the opportunity.“, he indicated.
Among the guests at the event were the winning director of the Oscar, Ron Howard (“A brilliant mind”), who said that Reynolds “He’s proving to be a great storyteller and producer, as well as a movie star.”
Actor and Wrexham co-owner McElhenney noted that Reynolds is “incredibly entrepreneurial” and “just looks at the world and business, and our business in particular, in a completely different way.”
Jason Blumthe leading horror producer behind hits like “Flees” Y “Paranormal activity”was also honored with a Power of Cinema award.
Like superhero movies, the horror genre has continued to thrive, drawing huge audiences to movie theaters in the age of streaming.
“Superheroes and horror. We have the theaters covered!” Blum joked about his fellow honoree.
