Miami, United States. – A wave of solidarity has been unleashed in recent days after the complaint of Cuban activist Guillermo Rodríguez Sánchez about the critical situation of Benito Alejandro, a 10 -month -old baby who lives in precarious conditions in the municipality of Venezuela, in Blind from Ávila. Thanks to a fundraising campaign on social networks, more than 1.6 million pesos have been gathered to improve their housing situation and guarantee better living conditions.

Benito Alejandro’s case moved hundreds of people after Rodríguez Sánchez’s publication on February 15in which he related the adverse circumstances of the child. The baby, born prematurely with only 29.2 weeks of gestation and a weight of 1,200 grams, has faced serious health problems since its birth, including hyaline membrane syndrome and pneumothorax. In addition, he has required recurring hospitalizations due to the bad conditions of the house where he lives with his father.

Rodríguez Sánchez highlighted the dedication of the father of the child, who is alone in the care of the baby, since the 16 -year -old teenage mother is in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the “Antonio Luaces Iraola” hospital.

“This man is a tremendous dad trunk and if that baby still lives it is thanks to his waste of love in the midst of his precarious panorama,” the activist wrote in his publication.

The aid campaign, promoted by Rodríguez Sánchez next to the influencer Yunior Tamayo Barrios, achieved a massive response. In just 48 hours, more than 1.6 million Cuban pesos were collected thanks to donations from the island itself, the United States and Europe. “An immense wave of help broke out from last night to help Benito among the followers of Yunior Tamayo Barrios and mine,” The activist published on February 17.

The funds raised will be used to buy adequate home for Benito Alejandro and his father. While the acquisition of the house is concretized, donations in kind, such as appliances, have also begun. “Surprisenew appliances are arriving, gift of overflowing people that follow this profile, ”Rodríguez Sánchez announced in An update on February 18where he informed that a former family neighbor, resident in the United States, had bought a new refrigerator for them.

“To the people who put a Cuban peso, a dollar or the amount that is, the sky belongs to them since,” Rodríguez Sánchez said in their message of thanks.

Currently, the search for housing for the family continues, while support samples do not cease. “We are looking for the ideal house to buy from Benito,” said the activist in his latest publication.
