Activists confirm the first sexist murder of 2026 in Cuba

Independent feminist platforms I do believe you and Tense Wings confirmed this Thursday the first sexist murder of the year in Cuba, which occurred last Tuesday in the province of Sancti Spíritus.

According to both platforms, The victim is Magaly Aragón Aragón, a 59-year-old nurse, murdered in a sugarcane field. from the Las Mulas prison camp, in the municipality of Jatibonico, where he worked.

The activists highlighted “the sexual nature of the violence that ended Magaly’s life, and the aggressor’s history of violence,” as stated in their communication channels.

The feminists recalled that they had already confirmed three sexist murders occurred in July, August and December 2025, reported a dispatch from the agency EFE.

Likewise, a national system for registration, care, follow-up and monitoring of gender violence was approved and the launch of the “No more” campaign was announced, focused on the prevention and response to violence against women.
