Activist highlights work of North American justice in favor of our country

Rodrigo Alvarenga Paredes, one of Cynthia Tarragó’s accomplices in the money laundering case that led the former legislator to prison for 33 months in the United States, confessed to the crimes on Friday before the North American justice system.

With this, he is exposed to up to five years in prison and a fine of US $ 250,000 when his sentence is released on November 9.

Rosa Vacchetta, a lawyer from Asuncion and a social activist, affirmed that the situation of Alvarenga Paredes reflects a good sign that the North American Justice has investigated and condemned these actors.

“Imagine the country image that they leave us, a former legislator who announces her candidacy for mayor of Asunción and soon falls red-handed. All this is very serious, even more so because the use of money from drug trafficking, ”she said.

He pointed out that money laundering and organized crime have permeated the democratic life of our country, because the money used to buy votes does not give up, and the political financing law does not look at that component, which is the one that distorts the popular will.

“I don’t know Rodrigo Alvarenga, actually none of them. I know Tarragó because she was a legislator, I know her because of her public actions, submissive to the power of Horacio Cartes”, she concluded.
