Activate search for missing persons in the Tuy River

The Governor of the state of Miranda, Hector Rodriguez Castroreported this Monday that a multidisciplinary team made up of the three dimensions of Governments (national, regional and municipal) was deployed throughout the Tuy River in order to monitor the levels of the flow and search for possible deceased after the landslide caused, last weekend, in Las Tejerías, Santos Michelena municipality of Aragua state.

On his Instagram account, Rodríguez Castro wrote: “Throughout the Tuy River, we deploy our Civil Protection and Firefighters teams to support the search and rescue efforts for the missing people in the Las Tejerías landslide.”

He also stated that “the public works crews work intensely in the removal of sediment and waste to avoid overflow in the surrounding communities.”

They turn on the alert in Piñango de Yare

From the agricultural community of Piñango in San Francisco de Yare, Simón Bolívar municipality, Rodríguez Castro stressed that all the sediments that come from Las Tejerías are concentrating on the bridge located in this sector of Yara.

He stressed that, jointly, with the ministerial entities, Mirandina mayors and companies in the region, work is being carried out in the aforementioned channel to open the passage of the Tuy River and guarantee that other communities are not affected.

“In this community we are doing intense work, because it has been the place where everything that the waters dragged from Las Tejerías has arrived,” said Rodríguez Castro.

He added that helicopters and drones were activated to observe the affected communities; and urged the neighbors to be on maximum alert and communication.

They inspect water levels in the Tuy River

Given the increase in the water level in the Tuy River, at the height of the Piñango agricultural sector in Yare, the authorities carried out an inspection of the structure of the bridge and nearby communities.

“Together with Governor Héctor Rodríguez, we began work to prevent the collapse of the flow of the Tuy River in this important sector of our town,” the mayor of the Simón Bolívar municipality, Saúl Rafael Yánez, revealed to Últimas Noticias.

Maintenance work on the Tuy River

Civil Protection officials, Miranda Firefighters, Barrio Nuevo Tricolor Mission, regional and local government, as well as workers from the Socialist Cement Corporation (former National Cement Factory) participate in the work, who carry out maneuvers with heavy machinery to decongest the passage of the waters at the height of the Piñango bridge.

Yánez specified that with these actions it is estimated to condition the fluvial circulation space with the goal of preventing the river level from exceeding the bridge and causing damage to the population.

He recalled that recently the rains destroyed more than 10 hectares of crops.

“It is a joint effort that we are going to carry out for the benefit of our people (…) We must prevent major disasters from occurring and for this reason today (Monday) we begin this great challenge,” Yánez declared.

They run along the riverbed in the Cúa – Tácata section

From the vicinity of the Tuy riverbed, Cúa-Tácata section, the mayor of the Rafael Urdaneta municipality, Jonatan Herrera Campo, notified about the deployment of the Civil Protection teams: Urdaneta (Cúa), Guaicaipuro (Los Teques) and Miranda, Militia Bolivariana, Miranda Firefighters, Bolivarian National Guard, Municipal and Regional Police, whose gendarmes are making the necessary checks in this section of the river looking for people who are missing as a result of the natural disaster that occurred after the rains in Las Tejerías.

He recalled that, this Sunday, in this Tuy river, at the height of the Cayapita sector, Cúa-Tácata national highway, three deceased people were found: two adults (male and female) and a young man, who possibly are from the town of Las Tejerías. The deceased were devoid of clothing and are still unidentified.

«The levels of the Tuy River, in this section Cúa – Tácata; and the Talma River in Nueva Cúa are totally normal. Likewise, the prevention teams are active to attend to any affectation or emergency that may be registered in the jurisdiction, “said the Cueño mayor.

Herrera Campo asserted that in the municipality of Rafael Urdaneta (Cúa) there have been no negative situations or damages of magnitude as a result of the downpours.

The authorities also reviewed the flow of the Tuy River, at the height of the Pampero bridge, entrance to Ocumare del Tuy. They also kept an eye on the El Jinete and El Jinetico streams in the Santa Bárbara parish, as well as other tributaries located in the Tuyera subregion.

They continue to serve families affected by rains in Baruta

“We continue to deploy the three levels of national, state and municipal government, accompanied by leaders, in addition to the Peace Quadrants, to accompany and help all these families,” said Governor Héctor Rodríguez Castro, from the La Planada community. from the Hoyo de la Puerta sector, Baruta municipality.

Rodríguez Castro, along with his management train, made a tour of different areas affected by the rains in recent hours, supervision that he carried out with representatives of the national government, the mayors’ offices and the People’s Power.

He stated that so far this week 136 affected homes are recorded in the entity, of which 11 have total loss and another 58 have only lost belongings; He added that they have also supervised the drainage system of the Tuy river.

The governor called on the population to maintain caution and communication with security and prevention agencies in any situation.

He noted that during this rainy season the important thing is to maintain the link with the entire government team, prevention bodies and social leaders to channel the solution of any eventuality.

“It is necessary that in those communities where there is some risk, leave the houses to a safe refuge, while the situation of the soil is evaluated,” said Rodríguez; and in turn congratulated the work being done by all officials of the risk prevention system.
