Action against alleged invasion of public areas arrests 6 people in Acre

Public agents arrested, this Saturday (12), in Acre, at least six people being investigated on suspicion of participating in an alleged scheme of irregular occupation of public areas, deforestation and illegal exploitation of natural resources on protected lands.Action against alleged invasion of public areas arrests 6 people in Acre

The arrests, in the act, occurred within the scope of Operation Usurpare, carried out by the Federal Police (PF) in conjunction with the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) and the Military Police of Acre (PM-AC).

In a note, the PF reported that the “growing illegal occupation and deforestation activities in [área destinada a] Incra settlement, in Acrelândia (AC), were exposing environmental integrity and federal public assets to danger”.

According to the Federal Police, those investigated illegally occupied and extracted natural resources, such as tree wood, from protected areas, mainly those for permanent protection of the property, guaranteed by law as spaces for the preservation of biodiversity; soil protection and ensuring the well-being of the population.

Also according to the PF, during the action, federal agents seized two firearms. The report was unable to contact targets of the operation.
