Acosta on fines to electric companies: “It is historic and we congratulate ASEP”

Pedro Acosta of the National Union of Consumers and Users of the Republic of Panama (UNCUREPA), referred to the provision of electric service and the sanctions issued by ASEP to electric distribution companies. He said that it is to be applauded that this government has taken a firm stand on this issue.

“Contracts with electricity distribution companies do not have clauses that allow them to be terminated, which is why the same companies have been in place for years and with the same service provision system,” said Acosta.

Regarding the provision of water services, he said that IDAAN always says that a percentage of drinking water is lost before reaching the system, there are too many leaks, Acosta said, emphasizing that water production must be increased.
