More than 30 products that are part of school supplies are exempt from paying the tax on the Transfer of Personal Property and the Provision of Services (ITBMS), for which the Authority for Consumer Protection and Defense of Competition (Acodeco) began with verification operations in different parts of the country to ensure that businesses are complying and do not charge the 7%.
Through its direction of Truth in Advertising, today they began the “Back to School” operation, where according to the head of this department, Ilegar Herrera, in addition to advertising issues, they reviewed tax-exempt supplies and prices at sight.
Herrera specified that it is important that economic agents must comply with the exemption of these items and if the consumer considers that he has been charged, he must report it to Acodeco.
He stressed that in the case of shoes, slippers and backpacks there is a ceiling price to be exempt from the IBMS and that the consumer must verify it.
