SANTIAGO.- During the celebration of its 64th anniversary, the AAssociation of Merchants and Industrialists (ACIS) presented concrete proposals to promote national development, in an event that included the participation of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, as a keynote speaker.
The president of the ACIS, Marcos Santana, proposed the creation of a “integrated, modern and responsible fiscal pact” that guarantees a financially strong and sustainable State.

Highway from San Francisco to Santiago
He made a direct call to the businessmen of San Francisco de Macorís, Tenares, Salcedo, Moca and Santiago to unite in a “strategic table that promotes the four-lane highway from San Francisco de Macorís to Santiago”, work that he described as “indispensable to strengthen the productive corridor of the northwest.”

Strategic investment of Pension Funds
Santana highlighted the need for a “responsible and diversified management of pension fund investments”, pointing out that “These resources must grow and perform more with guarantee and security.”
He suggested sectors such as housing as an investment opportunity that offers “superior profitability, generates thousands of jobs and helps reduce the housing deficit.”
Business unit for strategic works
The business leader emphasized the power of the business unit, citing the Ambal Expressway, currently in the bidding phase, as an example.
Commitment to decentralization
When referring to the State management model, Santana pointed out that “the Dominican Republic needs to move towards a more balanced model where the regions have greater participation and autonomy,” reiterating the commitment of the ACIS to harmonious territorial development.
Institutional commitment
In conclusion, the president of the ACIS reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to “democracy, free enterprise and sustainable economic development”, ensuring that the association will continue to be “a space where each company, regardless of its size, has a voice and value in building the future of the country.”
