The President of the Republic Luis Abinader reiterated yesterday his concern for the blackouts throughout the country and attributed the electrical failures to three factors that have coincided.
The president pointed out as the first of the factors the delay in the supply of 600 additional megawatts, which will be integrated into the energy system gradually as of September.
It also referred to the increase in energy demand, product of high temperatures recorded in the country in recent months.
Abinader explained that, on the average of 2,730 megawatts demanded for this same season in 2020, it currently suffered an increase of up to 4,000 megawatts.
As a third factor, he mentioned the service output of several maintenance energy generation plants. In that sense, he assured that every march is worked for his reintegration.
“We are doing what we can do to eliminate gradually and according to our possibilities,” he said.

However, despite the difficulties that have occurred, he emphasized that even at the most critical moment, energy generating plants were offering energy to 91% of the country.
“What you may be sure is that we are aware, we are very concerned about that issue and we are working day by day to solve the problems,” he added.
This is the second time in the week in which the president refers to the issue of blackouts after having apologized with the population last Monday for the “annoying blackouts” that install the people.
