The 12 accused of encroaching on private property Las Tojas de Guarayos They denied having settled illegally in the place and they claimed that they were hiring you to do cleaning work. The Prosecutor’s Office charged them with three crimes and they will be guarded this Saturday.

This Friday, a woman and 11 men gave their informative statement as denounced in offices of the departmental Special Force to Fight Crime (Felcc). They all denied having invaded the private property and some were encouraged to give names of the leaders who hired them to work.

Now the Public Ministry has the testimonies of the accused and works to identify the alleged leaders who hired the apprehended people, who have already been charged for the alleged crimes of encroachment, criminal association and qualified damage.

The departmental prosecutor Róger Mariaca indicated that he is also analyzing accusing the 12 apprehended for environmental crimes, because on the Las Tojas de Guarayos property they felled trees without permission and caused environmental damage.

This Saturday the defendants will be placed before a precautionary judge, who will define if they are detained in jail or if they defend themselves in freedom. The time is still unknown, as it has to be scheduled.

Mariaca explains that the operation that led to the capture of these people was carried out thanks to the coordination with the Police and the Agricultural Chamber of the East, where the owner of the affected property belongs.

“The operation was carried out on Thursday (December 22) and the apprehension of 12 people between the ages of 24 and 65, all Bolivians, was achieved. They entered the property where we were able to demonstrate the environmental damage, since they dismantled more than 3 kilometers without any kind of land management,” reported Eduardo Del Castillo, Minister of Government, in relation to the case.

In this intervention, three chainsaws were seized, two presumably 22 caliber rifles, machetes, notebooks with notes and lists of people, rice seed, farm equipment and three motorcycles.
