The Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations (SAC) of the Congress of the Republic has 15 days to investigate and present its final report on the constitutional complaint filed against the parliamentarian Lucinda Vasquez for the alleged crime of influence peddling aggravated by having offered applicants to the entrance contest for the public teaching career, in 2021, access to the tests in exchange for the payment of 3,000 soles.
This was approved this morning, by a majority, by the Permanent Commission of Congress, so, according to the Internal Regulations of Parliament, the SAC must now appoint the congressman delegate who will be in charge of investigating the case.
At the beginning of November, the subcommittee approved, also by majority, the qualification report on the case of Lucinda Vásquez, who between the end of August 2021 and November 13 of that same year offered teachers in the San Martín region access to the entrance exam to the public teaching career.
According to the constitutional complaint filed against her by the Attorney General’s Office in January of this year, the parliamentarian would have requested a payment of 3,000 soles per person from the applicants through an intermediary.
He would have then argued to have influences and links with people in the sector, specifically with Ynés Gallardo Calixto, daughter of the then Minister of Education Carlos Gallardo Gómez.
At the time, it should be noted, the Prosecutor’s Office, in official proceedings, seized the ballot offered that contained the same questions and answers that were later used in national tests. The coincidences were verified through a comparison between the seized material and the official booklet.
Lucinda Vásquez, it is recalled, entered the Congress of the Republic with Peru Libre, but is currently part of the Together for Peru-Voices of the People-Magisterial Bloc bench headed by Congressman Roberto Sánchez.
To date, Vásquez is also investigated by the Parliamentary Ethics Commission for having arranged for personnel from her congressional office to perform domestic tasks at her home.
