Santo Domingo.- After the official publication, presented by the Association of Art Chroniclers (Acroarte)of the Soberano Awards nominees corresponding to the year 2021, the Christian Academy of Art Chroniclers (ACCRA) reacted indignantly at the exclusion of the Contemporary Religious Music category, which had been included since 2005 in frank recognition of its rise in the secular media.
It is recalled that, in 2005, when Félix Vinicio Lora was president of the Casandra Awards (as what was later known and is known as the Soberano Awards was called at that time), the category of Contemporary Religious Music was included, due to its impact and significance. of the songs performed by soloists and groups that profess and practice the Christian religion in our country.
Potters, a Catholic group, first to win a statuette in that category. It was followed by Lilly Goodman, Reborn in the Spirit, Nancy Amancio, José Luis Reyes, Tercer Cielo, Marcos Yaroide, Johan Paulino, Barak, Christopher Henry and Isabelle Valdez (in the most recent 2020 edition).
The executive director of ACCRA, Danny Ramírez, regretted, on behalf of the entity, that the category that recognizes Christian artists has been excluded, who with their message of faith, love and hope reach the whole of society contributing to their socio-spiritual well-being .
“It is a regrettable setback, the exclusion of this category”
ACROARTE is expected to consider including the category; and that it can also include a segment of Christian music in each staging on the night of the Soberano Awards gala, which was one of the musical spaces that the audience most expected and valued.
“It is a regrettable setback, exclusion, and a reliable example of the deterioration of our society, which prefers to support “artists” whose messages are harmful, instead of supporting Christians who strive to write letters that build and make great contributions transforming the hearts of men and women,” said Mr. Ramírez.
Thank God that Christian artists and communicators have, since 2009, the El Galardón Awards granted by the Christian Academy of Art Chroniclers (ACCRA), becoming Everyone’s Party! «But it is not enough; It is necessary that this space won by Christian artists not be taken away from them at the Soberano Awards”, said Danny Ramírez.
«We understand that if any category does not meet the number of participants, or works proposed in a year, it could be excluded, however, this is not the case in our community, which is why we are surprised that despite the boom, increase and significance that more and more Christian music and artists achieve, this category that recognizes the hard work of men and women of faith in the Sovereign Awards should be excluded, ”said the also president of El Galardón Awards.
