According to the report of the National Armed Forces (FAN), this Wednesday, July 19, more than 6,547 people “who practiced illegal mining have been voluntarily evicted from the Yapacana National Park in Amazonas state.”
The head of the Strategic Operational Command of the Armed Forces (Ceofan), General in Chief Domingo Hernandez Larez, said that the vacancy of the area was made after those indicated understood and accepted that “the contamination generated by mining environmental depredation is a fundamental factor for ecocide, causes negative effects and degenerates into climate changes and contamination of hydrographic basins, leading to to the collapse of the environment.

Likewise, the military emphasized that the voluntary evacuation phase “duly registered and registered” began on July 1, “in compliance with the evacuation plan through the safe route Carida – Puerto Ayacucho, in attention to the operationalization of the plans of security, defense and environmental protection.
According to the FAN, these operations correspond to the 5th historical objective of the Plan de la Patria, as well as the duty and right of every citizen to protect the environment.
On July 7, Ceofan noted that at least 4,000 people “voluntarily” left the Yapacana National Park for environmental reasons.
Through a post on Twitter, Hernández Lárez reasoned that this evacuation would contribute to the preservation of the human species. He also acknowledges that it is impossible to restore the damage caused by illegal mining in the area.
On the other hand, from the FAN they indicated that the deployment continues in the Alto Apure border axis in operations for the maintenance of internal order, “as well as the calm of the population to enjoy their rights, in perfect peace and harmony, through the Bolivarian Shield operations of reconnaissance of areas, zones and routes, through patrolling and scrutiny tasks”.
