According to Glenda Umaña, Costa Rica will turn to a second electoral round for the fourth time

Costa Rica currently has 25 presidential candidates running for the general elections to be held on February 6, a record number in the history of the country, rated as one of the strongest democracies in Latin America.

Costa Ricans will also elect, among dozens of candidates from 38 parties, the 57 representatives of the Legislative Assembly, who must resolve the demands of society in Costa Rica, address the fiscal deficit and unemployment, cut public spending, combat corruption, managing the pandemic, modernizing the electricity and transportation sectors, improving education, are some of the most urgent issues to resolve in the country, but the most important: economic reactivation.

The international journalist, Glenda Umaña, referred to this issue, revealing that there is talk of six candidates who are the favorites among the 25 and, in her opinion, it is practically imminent that they will go to a second round of elections for the fourth time, something that was not previously it was happening

“For the third time, Costa Ricans living abroad can exercise their vote. We started three votes ago with 12,000 people, now there are 50,000 registered. There could be a difference or something decisive, ”she specified.

Umaña stressed that double application is allowed. “16 of the 25 are presidential candidates and also candidates for deputies, for Congress.”
