The beginning of the Carnival holiday in the Aragüeña entity has been affected by two traffic accidents on the road to the coast, leaving six people injured and considerable material damage to tourist transport units.
On the night of Saturday, February 14, a white minivan type unit that was transporting 20 Caracas tourists in the “Full Day” modality fell off a cliff at kilometer 15.
The rescue deployment, made up of Aragua Firefighters, MBI Civil Protection, Ven 911 and the GNB, confirmed the transfer of six injured people to the Central Hospital of Maracay. One of the passengers required priority immobilization due to widespread trauma. Fortunately, no deaths were reported.
Collision against a fixed object at the Cata Viewpoint
A second incident occurred on the morning of this Sunday, February 15. An Encava-type public transport unit hit a large rock on the road that connects Ocumare with Cata.
According to preliminary reports, the vehicle suffered a brake system failure. The driver, in a maneuver to avoid falling into the void or colliding with other cars, directed the unit towards the rock formation. No injuries were reported in this event, with damage limited to the structure of the bus.

The regional authorities reiterate to drivers the importance of prior mechanical inspection and caution when traveling on this mountain road, characterized by its complex geography. Vehicular flow has been restored after the expert assessment and extraction of the units.
