The accident took place on Last Wednesday around two in the afternoon on Route 104, at kilometer 101. It was a frontal collision between two cars: the Volkswagen Nivus truck and a Ford Ka.

The occupants of the Ford Ka, Micaela Trinidad (26 years old) and Josefina Ferrero (27 years old), died in the accident. In addition to them, two other women were traveling in the car: Melina Labururu and Camila Palacios, who suffered injuries and had to be transferred with different degrees of severity.

The driver, Nicolás Rocca, was traveling in the Volkswagen van, together with Nazarena Sierra, Milena Antún, Juan Sentero and Josefina Elissondo.

In addition, Justice is awaiting the result of a blood extraction, which will determine if the driver had consumed other substances.

In this way, the main point of the investigation is to determine if Rocca – who underwent surgery due to injuries and must remain hospitalized for at least another ten days – invaded the opposite lane, through which the Ford Ka was circulating.

According to the lawyer Durán, his client affirms that he did not invade the lane. “Nicolás tells me that he did not invade the lane. He said it before breaking down, because he started crying. He repeats that he did not invade any lane,” Durán told Telemundo, adding that Rocca is one more “victim” of the crash.

Lawyers for the victims, however, take the opposite view and maintain that Rocca (who tested positive for spirometry) did cross over into the opposite lane.

To resolve this point, the report delivered by the Accident Department will be key.
