The argument behind the project is to contribute to national tourism, making it accessible for the inclusion of people with visual disabilities and hearing loss, providing greater and better opportunities for insertion and full autonomy for these groups.
The project is covered by the framework of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities – which puts the responsibility of guaranteeing said rights in the hands of the States -, and involved in the construction of the 2030 Agenda of Objectives of Sustainable Development that points out that it is necessary to empower vulnerable people.
According to the definition of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), accessible tourism is “one that aims to facilitate access to tourism services for people with disabilities”.
The purpose is to disseminate, defend, promote and value the culture of our country, in addition to influencing the participation and real attendance of all citizens in compliance with Law No. 14,040 (Commission of Historical, Artistic and Cultural Heritage of the Nation) so this project suggests including in the designated tourist enclaves, reading systems such as Braille, bar codes or other tools that serve this purpose.
This proposal seeks to generate tourism planning that takes into account all its actors, involving them in their diversity, in order to promote equality and inclusion through truly affordable tourism, which transcends, and whose main objective is to create inclusive tourist spaces, that is, that is, that they are developed so that each person can enjoy them, as far as possible under the same conditions without any distinction.
Information is an essential component of Heritage, access to it, to cultural property, freedom of expression and opinion, are fundamental human rights that States must guarantee to each person, and this also includes those who suffer from hearing loss and blindness.
Only by creating awareness about the importance of working on inclusive tourism, is that absolute accessibility will be achieved. One that respects the rights of all, as equals and gives rise to integration, valorization, personal and collective growth.
