The second valid race of the 2024 Acceleration season, in which national and international drivers will test their driving skills and the speed of their cars, will be held this May 18 and 19 at the Autódromo Panamá, located in Capira, down Campana, it was announced at a press conference.
For this date, quarter-mile or drag drivers will be competing in the categories 15 seconds or more, 14s, 13s, 12s, 11s, 10s and 9 seconds or less, on a track 402 meters long and 500 meters braking in a straight line. , designed with the highest safety standards.
The organizers reported that the activities begin on Saturday, May 18, very early with practices and classification; while on Sunday, May 19, the eliminatory races start at 9:00 am.
At the Autódromo Panamá, a facility that has the endorsement of the International Automobile Federation, the participation of the powerful Chevrolet Camaro, driven by driver Ariel González Jr, is expected for this second date, with a time of 8.349 seconds, in the category of 9 seconds or open, has a track record.
Also expected to visit are Edgar Zamora in a Nissan GTR R35 and Gilberto Vargas in a Datsun Coupe, who will surely give González Jr a fight.
To also remember that in the first race, Cristopher Lyma-Young, in a Ford Mustang GT, stood out in the 10-second category; in the 11 second category, Juan Carlos Jované in a Toyota Supra MK5; in 12 seconds Abilio Castillo, in a Honda Civic;
José Jaén in a Nissan Sentra B13 in the 13 second category; in 14 seconds, Eduardo Tejada, aboard Honda Civic cars and in the 15 second category, José Alberte, in a Volkswagen Jetta.
On that occasion, motorcycling also tested speed, with Calos Sánchez winning in the 600 and Víctor Domínguez in the 1000.
In terms of facilities for the competition, all safety regulations are met, with facilities for attendees such as bathrooms, special stands, exhibitions, spaces for food and hydration tasting and a lot of adrenaline from the excitement of the races.
