The Control Court 1 of Trujillo issued a 19-year prison sentence against Freddy José López (47) after admitting his responsibility in the commission of a carnal act against a 26-year-old woman, the Public Ministry reported in a bulletin.
This fact was discovered on January 25, 2021 in the aggressor’s home, located in the La Floresta sector of the Mercedes Díaz parish, belonging to the Valera municipality, capital of the Trujillo state.
According to the investigation, on January 3, 2021, both the victim and her sister-in-law went to López’s residence, who offered alleged spiritualist services.
However, on January 25, 2021, while both ladies were at López’s home, the victim complained of a severe headache. López made her go to one of the rooms, put her to bed and closed the door despite the companion’s insistence that she not do so.
After an hour of confinement and without remembering much of what happened, the victim left the room and complained of abdominal pain. They presume that the man gave her a concoction to drink that made her drowsy, a situation that López took advantage of to sexually abuse her. After returning home, the woman had discomfort in her intimate area and observed bleeding, the story says.
The abortion.
After a month of discomfort, the woman went to a health center and was informed that she was pregnant. Not remembering having had recent sexual contact, she went to Lopez’s house once to confront him. At his home, the man denied any accusations and suggested an abortion.
After several months of keeping her under threat, the woman went on July 8, 2021 to the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc), to file the respective complaint. Given these events, Freddy López was arrested and placed under the command of the Public Ministry.
During the trial, the 12th Prosecutor’s Office of Trujillo charged the aggressor with committing a sexual act with a particularly vulnerable victim.
Once the elements of conviction presented by the prosecutor’s representation had been evaluated, the 1st Control Court of that entity issued the aforementioned sentence against López and ordered his confinement at the Cicpc headquarters in Valera, says the statement from the Prosecutor’s Office.
