Lawyer Absalón Conurana Surco was sworn in this Friday as the new deputy minister of Peasant Indigenous Justice. The Minister of Justice and Transparency, Iván Lima, was in charge of taking the oath of one of his main collaborators in this State portfolio.
“It is an important and fundamental incorporation in the path of the transformation of justiceunder the principle of equality and opportunity for all Bolivians and within the framework of indigenous justice, which requires full commitment”, said the minister.
For his part, Conurana pledged to strengthen justice in Bolivia and to seek the transformation of original indigenous peasant justice. LThe new authority also said that he will coordinate all actions with the three levels of government. National, departmental and municipal.
“I promise to strengthen Law 073 (Jurisdictional Demarcation) and seek the transformation of indigenous justice original peasant”, he expressed.
The lawyer, a native of the Pacajes province of the department of La Paz, graduated par excellence from the Public University of El Alto and has postgraduate studies in Higher Education and Research Methodologies.
The new indigenous justice authority was a councilor and municipal mayor of the municipality of Catacora of the General Province José Manuel Pando and has work experience in courts and civil and administrative processes.
In addition, Conurana was Jatha Mallku in the Lliza-Catacora community in 2014, accredited by the Federation of Original Authorities Tupaj Katari and Bartolina Sisa of his José Manuel Pando; Jach’a Mallku Marka Catacora in 2017 and Provincial Executive José Manual Pando 2020-2021.
